Happy Independence Day

Chris and I want to wish you a Happy Independence Day! Thank you to all of the Troops at home and abroad defending ours and others freedoms! I hope and pray that they will all return home to their loved ones safely!

I bet you have been wondering where the heck I have been for the past couple of weeks.  Well, it’s been a really crazy couple of weeks in my ultimately crazy world.

I hurt my back giving the dogs a bath and was on the couch for a couple of days. That was really not fun, except I got to catch up on a lot of movies. I also have been dealing with some issues in my life that needed sorted out. I thank God that he has blessed me with Chris to help me make sense of everything. Chris is my absolute best friend and I can’t thank him or God enough for being in my life.  Can you believe that I haven’t even been in my project room for almost 2 weeks. It’s insane. But today I plan on getting in there and getting back to creating!

Oh and I can’t forget the wonderful adventures of NO Air Conditioning that started on Friday. All is well today, but going 2 days with no air was not fun. Thank goodness the weather was not unbearable! But the ac issues definitely drained my checking account! The joys of home ownership.

I promise I will be back in full force soon!

Happy Independence Day!

Welcome Summer…now GO AWAY!

Yep, it’s that time of the year again and I will be whining! Now everyone say it with me….I HATE SUMMER! Today was a whopping 105 degrees outside. Felt like it was hotter. Matt called yesterday and was boasting that it was only 55 degrees outside in Alaska. If he wasn’t my son, I would have hung up on him and refused to talk to him until winter! LOL!!!

You know, I believe that everything happens for a reason. Well, today on the way home from work, Chris and I were discussing what we needed to do this evening. And since he didn’t mow yesterday, he said that he was going to mow the backyard around 7 pm. Okay, it’s just really too hot and we just spent 10 hours at work. But, the backyard is on the verge of being out of control. We get home and on our front porch was a flyer for lawn care service. Talk about a sign….so you know what I did…yep, I called the number while Chris was cooking dinner. If I left it up to him, he would have never called. He would have mowed the backyard. Not on my watch! And since I am the budget/checkbook keeper, I made an executive decision.  I spoke with the owner of the service and 45 minutes later, he and one of his workers were at our house discussing their service. SOLD! Tomorrow they will be at our house mowing our yard and will do so weekly until the grass finally stops growing so much. The cost..minimal! I was floored. He is also going to some other yard work for us that we haven’t been able to find time to do. WoooHooo!  It’s totally added value to our lives. And now Chris’ weekend plans will not include mowing.

I finally got some new mini albums listed in my store. Here is one that I think turned out really really cute.

Happy Father’s Day

Chris and I would like to wish all you great dads out there a very Happy Father’s Day.

I treated Chris to country style ribs for his Father’s Day dinner. I also talked him into taking the day off and no mowing. I really didn’t have to twist his arm too terribly much.

Chris is totally enjoying an afternoon on the couch watching old 80s comedies. Right now he is watching Stripes with Bill Murry.  I can’t believe he has never seen it. I thought anyone who spent their teenaged years in the 1980s have seen Stripes.

Here are three birdhouses that I am currently working on.  They are not finished yet. I have to add the finishing touches.

Alexander Wayne – AKA: Rootbeer

My dad never fails when coming up with cute nick names for his great-grandchildren.  Alexander Wayne (A&W) is now dubbed Rootbeer! Get it? A&W Rootbeer. bwahahahahahahaha! I love it!

Great-Grandpa is getting a close up! Poor Rootbeer is probably suffering from flash burn, I know he definitely would be if I was there.

Great-Grandma is oooo-ing and awwww-ing. Isn’t it amazing how little babies turn all of us adults into silly people.

I swear that little Trevor is always smiling! He is such a happy baby. One of these days I am going to finally get to meet my Great-Nephew.

Happy Dogs, Vacuum cleaner and Cards

We have some really happy dogs. We have changed their diet. One can of Alpo mixed with some dry dog food makes for some really happy dogs!

I have been doing some research on some homemade flea repellants. Garlic seems to be hands down the go to remedy, as long as you don’t over dose the dogs in garlic. So with the Alpo and dry dog food we are adding some fresh garlic. Let me tell you the methane cloud coming from under the bed last night almost drove Chris and I to sleep in the guest bedroom. But we decided to tough it out, since they would have just followed us in there.  The things we put up with for the sake of our dogs!

I think Chris and I need our heads examined. Not only have we ordered a Dyson Vacuum cleaner (DC25 Animal), we are actually excited about it. But when you have 2 large dogs and 4 cats all living under the same roof, you need something powerful to clean up the hair. I am really keeping my fingers crossed that the Animal does the trick. It better, I have never spent that much on a single vacuum cleaner. However, adding up the $$ of the 4 vacuum cleaners we have gone through in the past 5 years, it’s almost a wash.  It better live up to it’s hype and the Amazon reviews.

If anyone out there owns a Dyson, please let me know how it’s doing for you, especially if you have pets.

Now, on to the cards. Yep, I made 5 cards this weekend and 5 mini albums. But the photos of the mini albums didn’t turn out very good, so I have to retake them.

Here are a couple cards….

Welcome to the World Alexander Wayne Smith

I am a great aunt….again.  Alexander Wayne Smith FINALLY decided to enter the world today weighing in at 7 pounds 11 ounces and 21 inches long.  My Matthew still holds the record (okay he is tied with me) of largest birth weight.

Welcome to the world Alex! We are all so very happy you are here.  Mommy, baby and Daddy are all doing well.

Isn’t he a doll? And even though my beautiful niece will kill me for posting a picture of her, I think she looks so beautiful holding Alex. Heck, she looks a dang sight better then I did….if she wasn’t my niece I would hate her for it!

Look at all of that hair. I was hoping for jet black like his daddy, but reddish brown looks very good on him!
