Well....I did it....I can't believe I did it..but I did it..

did what, you ask.....I signed up for my very first craft show. I have never done a craft show, well, they are calling it a vendor fair. They are having it at work for our United Way campaign. Should be interesting. It isn't until September 23rd, so I have time to make more stuff. I am already starting to freak out about it. But it's a small venue, so it will be good for me to "cut my teeth" on, so to speak.

Now, I just have to figure out what I am going to make. Hmmmm, maybe I will make some mini albums....I think I have the supplies.

But first, I have three projects to work on this weekend. I promised a scrapping buddie of mine that I would make her a mini album...I promised it in June. Man, where has all the time gone?! I also will be working on my GBC projects for September. I have already started on a LO and let me tell you...I am in love with that paper!

Don't forget about my giveaway....If you haven't left a comment to get your name in the drawing for GBC's September's kit....click here ------>>>>Blog GiveAWay<<<<<

Busy Busy Weekend..........

Long post alert........

I have been one creating fool this weekend. I even had a MacGyver moment and got laundry done! WOW! I was productive.

Here is my MacGyver moment. I was cleaning out one of my drawers and came across some orphaned kraft paper envelopes. I have no idea what happened to their partners. So I thought, hmmm, what can I do with these. I was needing a break from working on mini albums, so I grabbed some kraft paper, the kraft envelopes, some scrap paper, a few tags and this is what I came up with....it's a mini note card file. I even used my sewing machine.

I should have done something more with the sides, they are a tad bit boring. However, I was in the zone and was only thinking about how I am going to glue the sides on without messing up the whole thing.

Pretty nifty huh? Now if I decide to do another one, I will do more with the sides.

I worked on some new items for my Etsy store. I love making these chunkie little mini's. They are so much fun and quick to make. I worked through a lot of scrap paper with these tiny guys.

I set up my sewing machine where I can just turn around in my chair and viola, I can sew. I have been wanting to make some art journals with this fun poka dot felt I got (I absolutely love Creative Cafe...). I cut some cardstock and hand sewed them together and into the felt cover. I think they turn out pretty cute. I am going to work on some more in different kinds of material.

These are my favorite projects this weekend. I have a ton of Daisy D paper that I have been hording. So I thought it was time to get it out and do something with it. I picked up these Cosmo Cricket Plain Jane cigar boxes and covered them with nothing but torn and inked paper. I added wooden knobs on the bottom of each box and made a coordinating mini album. I have one more cigar box...so I am thinking about making another one for myself! :)

I want to also give a huge shout out and congrats to my girl Carol!!! She made the Creative Scrappers Design Team. So for the next 4 months we can drool over her beautiful work she does for them. At least now, I know that she will be posting on her blog often!!! Make sure you check out her blog and bookmark it!

I also want to thank her for awarding me the Wylde Woman award! I love you Carol!!!

The purpose of this award is "to send love and acknowledgment to women who brighten your day, teach you new things and live their lives fully with generosity and joy". She had such lovely things to say and I just want to thank her for this sweet, sweet honor. Part of getting this award is that I need to pass this on, so here are the rules:You can give it to one or one hundred or any number in between - it's up to you. Make sure you link to their site in your post. Link back to Tammy's blog so that she can go to visit all these wonderful women. Remember the Purpose of the Award

I am awarding this to....Lainey! She is an absolute inspiration to me and one fantastic super friend!

Sorry for the long post......:)

No Shrinky Dinking last night.......

My plan was to come home and get some Shrinky Dink time in before bed. Ha! I should have known better. Instead I grabbed the laptop, talked to Carol (which always ends up with both of us laughing hysterically at something one of us said) and then I pulled a "Jabba" (I was a slug on the couch..)

So what is my plan for this evening? Well I hate to make any plans, because I will end up doing something entirely different. But right now (at 5:30 am) my plan for this evening is sorting all of my ribbon out and getting them hung back up on the wall, so I will actually use them.

But there will be more shrinky dinking this weekend! :) Just wait until I decide to start working with polymer clay! :)

"Houston....we have lift off.."

Captains log....................WooooHoooo, I have finally been sucessful with these sneaky little shrinky dinks. I am not sure if it is because of the toaster over, the big wooden spatchula or a combination of both...This time I decided instead of doing all of that lettering I would just grab some stamps and stazon ink. Now, I just have to experiment with some of my lettering.

I am wondering why in the world I picked one of the longest names to call my store. I guess I could shorten it to WMD (WhatchaMaDoodles)..but that is too close to Weapons of Mass Destruction and I certainly don't want to be on any watch list. So I guess I will just have to leave as WhatchaMaDoodles and see how small I can go where you can still read the name.

Here are two mini ablums I did this weekend. I finally was able to take some pictures of them.

I need sleep.....

Well so much for my Monday evening plans of continuing the Shrinky Dink experiement. I got home last night, ate a bite and went to bed. By 6pm, I was in a snoring coma! Chris told me this morning that he came in our bedroom around 630pm to see if I wanted a cup of coffee and found me and Possum snoring in unison. I am sure it was a pretty tune! LOL!!!

I would say that I am going to continue my experiment this evening, however, we will see how my day goes here at work. The bossman will be here most of the day, so I am suspecting it is going to be one wild and crazy day!

Just heard on the radio that Metallica will be having a concert at the new BOK arena in Tulsa on November 18th. Holy Monkey!!! I am so excited! Not sure if we will go, since I am pretty certain tickets will be astranomical, but you never know!!!!

I have to give a shout out to a sweet lady...Miriam at LimaBean Designs. She totally hooked me up with some awesome digi stuff that she created. It's gorgeous. I am not sure how to use these digital wonders, but I am going to figure it out!!!! Thank you Miriam!!!!

I got me a Toaster Oven......

Lookie Lookie!! Now maybe I can conquer those sneakly little shrinky dinks!! I will continue my experiment tomorrow after work. I am determined to get at least one that turns out right!

I want to thank everyone for their comments and tips. Trust me, I need them. And Lori, I think you are right...probably shouldn't have used the broiler pan. Should have used a flat cookie sheet. Yep, I was having a "duh" moment.

So stay tuned.....The Shrinky Dink experiment will be continuted.

Have to share....Possum is listening to some new music on iTunes. She is so fat and rotten!

Well, inbetween Shrinky Dink disasters, I did make these two Halloween mini albums and get them uploaded in my etsy store. I did make two more, but haven't gotten pictures of them yet. Didn't have good light today, since it rained all day. I am not complaining, since the temperature never got above the high 80's! :)

Chris downloaded Apocalyptica's new cd for me. I just love their new song...I Don't Care. They are a group from Finland and they all play the chello....heavy metal style. Their new album they bring in a lot of featured singers. I Don't Care features the lead singer from 3 Days Grace. I am a huge fan of 3Days Grace. Check out their video on you tube.....beware...I am a die hard heavy metal/hard rock fan...so if you don't like that kind of music...skip the video :)

And I can't tell you just how excited for Within Temptations dvd Black Symphony to come out in September. Matt turned us on to Within Temptation when he came back from Germany last year. This video is awesome. Within Temptation is a Goth metal band from the Netherlands. I love her voice and the drama of their music. Here is a clip from their dvd.....

The Shrinky Dink Experiment...con't.....

Captain's log....Take 2 didn't go very well at all. I left them in the oven longer this time (thank you Jeanetta and Daphne for that suggestion). One almost flattened out. I tried to help it, but was unsuccessful getting the right side to uncurl. The other two, were beyond help.

Maybe it's because they are long an narrow. I need to change the shape and size. Maybe that will help.

Take 3......I used my Revolution and cut three large scalloped circles. And also used 3x3 squares. I was hopeful, but *sigh* unsuccessful. Must read instructions yet again. Maybe I should wait until tomorrow when I get a toaster over. Maybe my stove is getting too hot? Maybe it's the pan? Maybe it's the experimentor...nah! Couldn't be that....

Back to the drawing board.........

4:33 am.....Shrinky Dink Experiment...Take 1

Captain's log..Saturday, August 9th, 2008, 4:33 am. This is my first attempt to create those facinating Shrinky Dinks.

1. Read Instructions, twice........check
2. Created drawing on Shrinky Dink plastic (which will take some getting use to)....check
3. Place plastic on brown paper bag and pan.....check

4. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.....check
5. Place pan in oven for 1 to 3 minutes......check
6. And watch them shrink......check

***Something is not right**** Rechecking instructions...
Attempted to uncurl and flatten the Shrinky Dinks out....

My first attempt to make WhatchaMaDoodle Shrinky Dinks was sadly, unsuccessful. However, I do like how the lettering looks once it shrinks.

Back to the drawing board. ***Must read instructions again***

To be continued.......

Death by French Fries......

Okay.....here is the deal. It's been what, a couple of weeks when I declared that I am sick and tired of being sick and tired? Well, I have been doing pretty good (well, I am still ignoring the Beast, so I haven't been doing good in that area), I can feel it in my pants. It's not been a huge difference, but hey, when you don't have to suck your gut in as much as you normally do, you are doing good in my book!

However, the past few days, I have been having unhealthy thoughts, visions of french fries...McDonald's French Fries to be exact. The need, the cravings for McDonald's french fries has been more than I can take. So what did I do? I had some McDonald's french fries...two days in a row, as a matter of fact. Why fight that monkey on your back? He is just too strong for me. So I have decided that, YES, I am sick and tired of being sick and tired, just as long as every couple of weeks I can have me some McDonald's French Fries. I guess I better start talking to the Beast, that way maybe I can walk off at least 1/2 of the damage those fries make on my thighs and tookus.

Yep....I am at it again....

How many times have I changed my blog up in the past few months? I don't remember either. But how could I resist that bird? I just couldn't. He's just too much fun!

Shrinky Dinks and a Guillotine......

How many of you made Shrinky Dinks as a kid? **Raising hand** I loved Shrinky Dinks as much as I loved Sea Monkeys (and that was a lot!) Well, today I ran a quick errand to Hobby Lobby(because I had 40% coupon burning a hole in my pocket) and I spied with my big green eyes Shrinky Dink paper! OMG! I couldn't resist. I had to buy a pack. And did you know that they make Shrinky Dink paper that you can run through your ink jet printer?! Holy Monkey, what rock have I been living under...I did not know that there was such a thing. Heck I didn't know that they still sold Shrinky Dinks. Man, I need to check out the arts and crafts isles at Hobby Lobby more often! I am thinking this weekend, I am going to be having some Shrinky Dink fun!

Well, my 40% coupon went for this bad boy! I have just about worn out my MM paper trimmer. Yes, I know, the MM paper trimmer is self sharpening, should last a very long time.....well

not when you give it a complete work out cutting chipboard. Apparently, chipboard dulls that handy dandy little blade. So I thought, I had better get something different to cut chipboard. I know what you are thinking....I am going to dull the guillotine blade cutting chipboard. I am one step ahead. I have a blade sharpener!!

So how many want to take bets on how long it is before I either cut off my finger, because I decided against the annoying guard or break/wear out this bad boy? I give it 6 months. Since it took me about that long to wear out my MM trimmer. Eventually, it would probably be beneficial if I bought a heavy duty paper cutter hoss thing that they sell at office supply stores or photography stores...Eventually!

Ugh....I hate SUMMER.....

104 degrees today....and it feels like 113 degrees. Have I mentioned lately that I hate summer? Just in case....I HATE SUMMER! I prefer fall and winter. You know, I can put on enough clothes to be warm, however, you can not take off enough clothes to cool off. And let me tell you, seeing me in shorts and a tshirt is pretty scary (my legs haven't seen the light of day in about 5 years), I can't even imagine the amount of theropy people would need if they saw me without appearal. It's just too fightening to even think about. So I am counting down to Fall! And here, it will be around the beginning of October when temperatures will start cooling down and Chris and I can go back to enjoying coffee in the evenings on the front porch.

Only a couple of weeks and it's convention time. CK convention in Tulsa is on August 22 & 23. I am not sure what day I will be going. I need to get with the OK girls and find out when they will be there.

By the way.....it's freaking hot here!
