Okay, so today was my first day back to work. 3:30 am really stinks when you can ignore the alarm clock!  The day went okay. I was busy busy busy trying to catch up on emails, invoices and working on our departmental budget.  It was nice getting back into a routine….I think!

Like I promised, here is another plaque that I made over the weekend.

WHA_2346I am really digging glossy mod podge!

I have been wrist deep in mod podge….

That is why I have been a bad bad blogger this past weekend.  On Saturday, my sewing machine died. Which is not a good thing, since I was just getting pretty decent at sewing on my cards.  So off to the store we went.  $80 bucks later and I am back in business.  However, with any new piece of equipment, there is a learning curve.  However, learning curve or not, I love my new sewing machine.

Funny thing though, I only made one card this weekend.  Instead, I was working on some little wall hanging plaque thingies for WhatchaMaDoodles.  So for the most part, I was wrist deep in mod podge on Saturday and Sunday!

These are my coffee lover plaques.  These didn’t require any mod podge, but did require some sewing.

The stamped image is from Unity Stamps.

This one I did my own lettering.  It was fun doodling on something again.

I did several more plaques and will post them through this week.

Today was my last day home on medical leave.  And do you know how I spent my day?  Well, you would think I would have spent the day in the project room creating a mess….but nooooooooooooo, I spent the day sleeping.  I was not feeling very well today.  I think it may have been the fact that I have no self control when it comes to chocolate chip cookies and Chris left a whole box of them unattended and out in the open.  He should know better! I have no self control when it comes to cookies and ice cream!

Now lets how that I can get to sleep tonight, since I can’t ignore the alarm clock anymore.

Have you ever???

Have you ever started on a project…any project…with a vision in your head.  However, when you finish the project, it doesn’t resemble your vision at all!  Well, that is what happened with this project.  I started out with a vision of something entirely different.  I will admit, while I was putting the lace trim on the doily, a smidge of black ink made it’s way onto the doily….dang it!  So strategically placing the chipboard pieces was a must.  Don’t get me wrong, I do like the outcome, but like I said, it is completely different than what was rolling around in my head!

I have to admit, I have totally enjoyed….

….my not so exciting start of the day! Wow, no locked doors, no mud wrestling with the dogs, no waking the neighbors at 430 am! Who would have thunk that a quiet, non-eventful morning could be so great?!  I actually, didn’t get up with Chris, nor did I follow him outside to send him off to work.  You think I am crazy? He would have locked me out again! I ain’t fallin’ for that again!

I went into mini-album mode this morning.  I haven’t made a mini-album in forever.  I am sooooo out of practice.  But I think it turned out really cute.  I love this Pink Paislee paper!

A very interesting start to my day….

Okay, let me set the scene…It’s 4:10 AM, I am drinking coffee and watching Chris run around the house trying to gather his stuff to leave for work. He is heading out a bit earlier than normal, since he has to stop and gas up the truck.

As he is walking out, I decide to see him off from the front porch. I walk out behind him. We say our goodbyes and he drives away. It was raining and their was a light cool breeze. I love the fall. I gave the cats some morning attention and yes, I was enjoying a cigarette (I know, I should quit….it’s bad for my health…bad habits die really hard.).

I turn around to go back into the house and to my utter surprise and disbelief, the front door is locked. LOCKED! OMG! Chris locked me out of the house. Okay, it’s no time to panic….backdoor! I let Scrappy outside before walking Chris out and I am notorious for leaving the backdoor unlocked. So I head around to the backyard, I open the gate…It’s really raining hard and I am in nothing but my pajama shorts and a t-shirt….It’s really getting chilly too. As I open the gate to the backyard, I am almost immediately pummeled by two rather large and MUDDY dogs….the coffee cup goes flying…I start cussing, trying to get the dogs off of me…too late, I am now engaged in a mud wrestling contest with a 85 pound dog….great! Once I get into the house, I am going to take me a very long hot shower. Up the back steps I go….Damn! Door is locked! More cussing, more mud wrestling….and to add insult to injury, I found one of Daisy’s holes…which I might add…is filled with freaking WATER!

I am cussing and crying now…..

Back to the front porch. I start checking windows. A car passes by. I am wondering if they see me? Man, I hope not, I really don’t need the police showing up.

So what are my options? Break a window or try to bash in my front door. Breaking a window is really not an option. I tried bashing in the front door, but on the first bash, I remembered it’s a metal front door. Okay, my only other option…wake up the neighbor so I can call Chris to tell him to turn around and come back home and LET ME IN THE FREAKING HOUSE!!!!

I knock on the door, and about two minutes later, my neighbor is opening up his front door with a very confused and sleepy look on his face. Now remember, I am in pajama shorts and a t-shirt…Oh, and my hair, well, since it’s short and fine, there is not one hair laying down, no….it’s all standing up waving at each other as well as waving at my neighbor. He lets me in, which I will be forever grateful. He leads me to his office to use his phone. I caught a glimpse of the clock…it’s now 4:20 am.

I call Chris, he is very apologetic and turns around. I told him he owed the neighbor an apology..and you know what Chris says to me? He asks, “Why?” Ummm, because I had to wake him up to call you to let me in the freaking house!!! I really should have stayed in bed this morning!!!!

I did finish the wooden box I was talking about yesterday.

What a soggy Monday!

Today was my follow up doctors appointment.  It went very well.  The antibiotics are doing their thing, the pain I was having last week is getting less and less, she released me to drive and told me that I could go back to work on the 29th. So this will be my last week at home. WooooHoooo!!!

On our way home, a thunderstorm was moving through. Man, it was a gully washer and lightening like crazy.  We watched one lightening bolt hit a parking lot as we drove by.  Very creepy!!!  We stopped at my favorite scrapbooking store.  While I was in there it started hailing.  What did Chris do? He parked on the sidewalk right in front of the doors, under their awning. It was hilarious.

This was the drive home. It was insane! We could hardly see and people were pulling over.  Granted, I have been known to pull over when the going gets bad, but dang, take the off ramp, pull into a parking lot, not on the freaking side of the highway.  That is dangerous! It’s not like we were out on a long lonesome highway.  There are exits about every half mile.  Grrrrrr.

IMG_0241_2288 IMG_0242_2289 IMG_0244_2291 IMG_0245_2292

The rain finally let up when we were about 5 minutes from the house, however, when we got within two blocks of the house, the second part of the storm hit! Dang! And it’s been raining ever since.

Last night started working on my less bumpy cards that will be mailed out.  So far I have finished 18 of them.  I have 10 more waiting on stitching.  Right now, my Christmas card mailing list is 58.  YeeGads.  I am going to have to take out a small loan for postage stamps! LOL!!!!

TAM_2214

I made a couple more lumpy bumpy ones as well.  I can’t resist! I love lots of texture and stuff!

TAM_2218TAM_2225

I did score some Graphic 45 paper while I was waiting out the storm at my LSS.  I picked up some Domestic Goddess.  I am working on an altered wooden box.  Hopefully, it will be ready tomorrow so I can post it.

Getting an early start…..

I decided to get an early start on Christmas cards.  I think I have enough Christmas/Winter/Snowman/Holiday paper to make enough Christmas cards for the next 5 years.

TAM_2173

Here are three cards I made this morning. These are not ones that will be mailed. For those that will be mailed, well, they will be a little less bumpy.  Postage is crazy enough!

So anyone else out there already working on Christmas/Winter/Holiday cards?

What a day…..

Well, my doctor’s appointment didn’t go as expected. In fact, I was a little too optimistic yesterday.  Apparently, I have a post-operative infection. Buggers! I am not running fever, but I have a little more pain that what is considered normal for two weeks after surgery.  So I am back on antibiotics and have to report back to the doctor’s office on Monday.  Right now, I am still not released to drive or go back to work.  As much as I love hanging out on my couch, I really need to get back into my normal routine.  Oh well, I am sure after another week of antibiotics, all will be well and I will be back to work at the end of the month.

Karen, yes the Congrats on your new home card is PaperTrey Ink. I love that set of stamps.  There are loads of their stamps I love, I am gonna have to give Chris a wish list…Christmas is coming up soon!

Thank you everyone for your congrats! I am so very excited.  We are debuting our very first challenge and inspiration on September 25th.  Currently, Meg and Jamie are showcasing some of their wonderful creations and inspiration.  So don’t forget to check it out!

Sorry no card to show today.  I haven’t been in the project room in a couple of days.  Gonna have to get my tookus in there tomorrow!

13th day of rain here in Oklahoma. The humidity has been high, high enough that I am growing moss on my front steps. What’s up with that!?! I am soooo ready for fall weather!

Here is another fun card I made last week. I love Jenni Bowlin Bingo Cards.  They are so fun!

Rain Rain go away…..

Now don’t get me wrong, I do like the rain, but enough is enough already! My yard is in dire need to be mowed, but it’s a bit hard for Chris to mow when it’s under an inch or more of water.

Friday, I have my doctors appointment.  So hopefully, I will be heading back to work next week.  Mind you, the idea of getting up at 330 am to be at work at 5 am is nothing to celebrate, but I need to get back in a routine. For the past two and a half weeks, I have gotten more sleep than I have in months. But honestly, I need a more active routine than taking naps.  You would think I would have been in the project room more, but noooooo, I have been spending quality time on the couch napping.

Here is a card that I made a few days ago.  My ex-husband and his wife bought a new house, so I made them this card.  Yes, I said my ex-husband.  We are friends, now…..:) I adore his wife.  She is a very sweet woman and my son Matt loves her very much and she loves him too.  I can’t ask for anything better than that!

Okay, was that a donkey I saw flying by my window…..

….did Hades freeze over and CNN forgot to report it?

TAM_2169 Possum hates anything with a pulse. Especially any one of the Three Stoogettes.  She tolerates Widdles from time to time, but Nibby is one that she totally detests. So you can see my complete surprise when I found this in Chris’ chair.  Miracles never fail to amaze me!

Mere, you wanted to see pictures of my paper stash, well here you go.  Mind you, it is a drop in the bucket for some paper stashes I have seen on the internet. I am an amateur when it comes to collecting paper by most standards.  Now when it comes to chipboard, well, I am an expert at hoarding and collecting.  But that’s another post for another day. :)

Update on Operation Stink Be Gone

Okay, last night two baby skunks came back. We realized that they were not living under our front porch, but actually hiding under there when we would come outside after dark.  Which is good news.  One of the little terrorists ran off and hid in the bushes at our neighbors house and the other tried to get under our porch but soon backed away when he caught a whiff of the delightful mothball smell!! Heee Heee! Take that you dreaded little stinky terrorist.  However, he did find a very small gap, big enough to stick his head in, in our concrete steps.  So he avoided the mothballs by hiding within our steps.  So today, on his way home from work, Chris is going to stop by the store and pick up a few more things of those mothball crystals.  They will be strategically placed on our steps and in the holes to deter the little stinky ones from hiding in there.  Man, they sure don’t like that mothball smell.  Maybe now they know how we feel when they throw one of their stink bombs!  While, Operation Stink Be Gone is not a victory, I feel that our campaign is close to being won!!!

TAM_2141Here is a cute card I made. I really love the vintage feel of Daisy D’s Beacon Hill paper line.

Operation Stink Be Gone has commenced….

So cross those fingers, toes and anything crossable that we will be rid of the stinky terrorists really soon! Chris and I got two cans of Moth ball crystals and threw some under our porch and around the house. Right now our house smells of moth balls, but that is a dang sight better than those horrid stink bombs our neighborhood skunks have been dropping here lately.

Last night we saw one of those little stinky things coming out from under our porch. Hopefully tonight they will come out and never return! So keep your fingers crossed that Operation Stink Be Gone is a success!

Yesterday, I was going through some of my fabric and stuff. I found some dollies that I had bought a couple of years ago on clearance at Joann’s. The smallest one I had was too big to use on a card, so I cut it in half and made these two cards. I love how they turned out. I am going to have to go through some of those boxes of stuff I have put up and forgotten about to see what other interesting thing I can put on a card.
