…I am totally wiped out from my weekend. Man, the older the body gets, the longer it takes to bounce back.
I totally forgot to tell you about my drive to Tahlequah on Thursday evening. Oh what an adventure. Okay, I decided while I was at work on Thursday to go and get another one of those big rolley scrapping cart thingies. They were on sale and the one I have was bulging and I had three bags bulging as well. So I needed (yes NEEDED) another rolley thingy. So I went and got one. So that meant that when I got home I had to repack my supplies. I hadn’t even packed my clothes. So we get home and I am running around trying to pack everything up…nothing like waiting until the last minute. I was trying to leave before rush hour in Tulsa. Well, not happening.
I get everything packed and Chris loads it up in the truck. It’s 4:55 pm. RUSH HOUR has begun. Yuck. So I head out and I was trucking along weaving in and out of traffic, but all and all doing just fine. That didn’t last very long. I knew that traffic would start getting thick around Memorial Avenue. I was off a couple of miles. I hit grid lock at Riverside. Great! About 20 minutes later I am back on the open highway heading to the Muskogee Turnpike via the Creek Turnpike.
I see the Muskogee Turnpike exit coming up. What’s that? Oklahoma State Troopers! They are blocking my exit. Great! What now! I pull up to one of the Troopers SUV. A very nice older gentlemen exits the SUV and comes over. I rolled down the window and asked what happened. Apparently, an asphalt truck took the exit a little bit fast with a full load and rolled on it’s side, spilling it’s entire load. It’s going to be a while. Fortunately, the driver was okay. So the very nice State Trooper told me to take the Tulsa exit and then loop around and exit the Muskogee coming in other direction. Sounds easy enough…..yeah RIGHT!
I proceed to the Tulsa exit, totally miss the other Muskogee exit and end up driving back into Tulsa. I don’t want to go to Tulsa, I just came from Tulsa. Tulsa is in the wrong direction. So I take the first exit I can find. Usually, that wouldn’t be a big deal, since I can loop around and get on the highway that will take me to the Muskogee Turnpike. Or so I thought. Let me just say one word that will sum up my mounting problems….CONSTRUCTION!!! The exit I needed is blocked. Now I am getting pissed. Anyone that knows me knows that I am DIRECTIONALLY CHALLENGED. So what do I do, I call Chris. My wonderful husband, my best friend, my soul mate. He will get me out of this mess. Oh wait, Chris doesn’t know his way around Tulsa and he is in Sapulpa. His advice….”Honey take a deep breath and use your GPS on your Iphone”. Ummm, okay, I have GPS on my Iphone!?! Okay, news to me and since I am talking on my Iphone, the GPS is not doing me any good. In the mean time I am LOST! L O S T…LOST! So I get on Hwy 51 and what do I see in the distance? The overpass with the first Muskogee Exit that is blocked. Well CRAP! I have made one big freaking circle. And I am back where the whole mess started. So what do I do? I just keep driving on Hwy 51.
And where does Hwy 51 lead? Who knows?! I don’t know! I am lost again. I keep driving, yelling, and trying to figure out how to do that GPS thing on my iPhone. Finally, I figure out the iPhone GPS thing, but it’s not much help since I don’t know where the heck I am on that little freaking map. It doesn’t matter that the blinking light is showing me where I am at, because I DON’T KNOW WHERE ‘AT’ is! Grrrr. So I call Chris again, almost in tears. Then I see it…..I see the sign…and it says “Coweta”. I am in Coweta. Okay, where the heck is Coweta and how do I get on the Muskogee Turnpike? Must stop and ask for directions. I see a McDonalds in the distance. Must stop at McDonalds and ask for directions. Wait, don’t teenagers work at McDonalds? I don’t like teenagers. They will laugh at me. Oh who cares if they laugh as long as they know how I can get to the Muskogee Turnpike. I turn in to the driveway of McDonalds and see a very large farm truck coming my way. And behind the wheel is a very old man. Old men are nice. I start waving at him to stop. He smiles and waves back and keeps driving. Sigh! This is not getting much better. However, he must realize that I am waving him down and he stops and puts his truck in reverse and rolls his window down. I ask him how to get to the turnpike, he tells me to get back on Hwy 51 and keep going for several miles and I will run right into the Muskogee Turnpike.
By now it’s been over an hour since I left home. I should have already been within 20 miles of my destination. And the girls are waiting on me to get their so we can go to Sam & Ella’s for Pizza. I get back on Hwy 51 and finally find the Muskogee Turnpike. The rest of the trip was uneventful. I don’t think I could have taken anymore “events”.
I really need to learn that GPS thing on my Iphone!
Well if you have made it this far…thank you! Now, let me show you some cards.
Bang Bang for now. I think I am going to go to bed and watch The Biggest Loser until I fall asleep!
