Welcome Summer…now GO AWAY!

Yep, it’s that time of the year again and I will be whining! Now everyone say it with me….I HATE SUMMER! Today was a whopping 105 degrees outside. Felt like it was hotter. Matt called yesterday and was boasting that it was only 55 degrees outside in Alaska. If he wasn’t my son, I would have hung up on him and refused to talk to him until winter! LOL!!!

You know, I believe that everything happens for a reason. Well, today on the way home from work, Chris and I were discussing what we needed to do this evening. And since he didn’t mow yesterday, he said that he was going to mow the backyard around 7 pm. Okay, it’s just really too hot and we just spent 10 hours at work. But, the backyard is on the verge of being out of control. We get home and on our front porch was a flyer for lawn care service. Talk about a sign….so you know what I did…yep, I called the number while Chris was cooking dinner. If I left it up to him, he would have never called. He would have mowed the backyard. Not on my watch! And since I am the budget/checkbook keeper, I made an executive decision.  I spoke with the owner of the service and 45 minutes later, he and one of his workers were at our house discussing their service. SOLD! Tomorrow they will be at our house mowing our yard and will do so weekly until the grass finally stops growing so much. The cost..minimal! I was floored. He is also going to some other yard work for us that we haven’t been able to find time to do. WoooHooo!  It’s totally added value to our lives. And now Chris’ weekend plans will not include mowing.

I finally got some new mini albums listed in my store. Here is one that I think turned out really really cute.

Happy Father’s Day

Chris and I would like to wish all you great dads out there a very Happy Father’s Day.

I treated Chris to country style ribs for his Father’s Day dinner. I also talked him into taking the day off and no mowing. I really didn’t have to twist his arm too terribly much.

Chris is totally enjoying an afternoon on the couch watching old 80s comedies. Right now he is watching Stripes with Bill Murry.  I can’t believe he has never seen it. I thought anyone who spent their teenaged years in the 1980s have seen Stripes.

Here are three birdhouses that I am currently working on.  They are not finished yet. I have to add the finishing touches.

Alexander Wayne – AKA: Rootbeer

My dad never fails when coming up with cute nick names for his great-grandchildren.  Alexander Wayne (A&W) is now dubbed Rootbeer! Get it? A&W Rootbeer. bwahahahahahahaha! I love it!

Great-Grandpa is getting a close up! Poor Rootbeer is probably suffering from flash burn, I know he definitely would be if I was there.

Great-Grandma is oooo-ing and awwww-ing. Isn’t it amazing how little babies turn all of us adults into silly people.

DSC00056

I swear that little Trevor is always smiling! He is such a happy baby. One of these days I am going to finally get to meet my Great-Nephew.

Happy Dogs, Vacuum cleaner and Cards

We have some really happy dogs. We have changed their diet. One can of Alpo mixed with some dry dog food makes for some really happy dogs!

I have been doing some research on some homemade flea repellants. Garlic seems to be hands down the go to remedy, as long as you don’t over dose the dogs in garlic. So with the Alpo and dry dog food we are adding some fresh garlic. Let me tell you the methane cloud coming from under the bed last night almost drove Chris and I to sleep in the guest bedroom. But we decided to tough it out, since they would have just followed us in there.  The things we put up with for the sake of our dogs!

I think Chris and I need our heads examined. Not only have we ordered a Dyson Vacuum cleaner (DC25 Animal), we are actually excited about it. But when you have 2 large dogs and 4 cats all living under the same roof, you need something powerful to clean up the hair. I am really keeping my fingers crossed that the Animal does the trick. It better, I have never spent that much on a single vacuum cleaner. However, adding up the $$ of the 4 vacuum cleaners we have gone through in the past 5 years, it’s almost a wash.  It better live up to it’s hype and the Amazon reviews.

If anyone out there owns a Dyson, please let me know how it’s doing for you, especially if you have pets.

Now, on to the cards. Yep, I made 5 cards this weekend and 5 mini albums. But the photos of the mini albums didn’t turn out very good, so I have to retake them.

Here are a couple cards….

Welcome to the World Alexander Wayne Smith

I am a great aunt….again.  Alexander Wayne Smith FINALLY decided to enter the world today weighing in at 7 pounds 11 ounces and 21 inches long.  My Matthew still holds the record (okay he is tied with me) of largest birth weight.

Welcome to the world Alex! We are all so very happy you are here.  Mommy, baby and Daddy are all doing well.

Isn’t he a doll? And even though my beautiful niece will kill me for posting a picture of her, I think she looks so beautiful holding Alex. Heck, she looks a dang sight better then I did….if she wasn’t my niece I would hate her for it!

DSC00052

Look at all of that hair. I was hoping for jet black like his daddy, but reddish brown looks very good on him!

Tulsa highways are really starting to scare me…

http://www.newson6.com/Global/story.asp?S=12621008

A hole!!! A hole in a bridge! A hole in a bridge in Tulsa! ANOTHER Hole in a bridge in Tulsa.  I am really starting to freak out about driving around Tulsa. Last week it was a huge sink hole on I44, several months ago, it was two large holes on a bridge on another stretch of I44 and now a hole on a bridge on Hwy 75 South. And don’t get me started about all of the dang construction going on. It is almost impossible to get in and out of downtown Tulsa, let alone get around it.  If Hwy 169 has any issues, Tulsa is going to be one self contained city, no one gets in, no one can get out! LOL!!!

I am feeling much better today. No more headache. My blood pressure might be elevated due to the wonderful drive home trying to re-route around town. Now the only thing I have to contend with is the neighborhood kids knocking on our front door and running off. Gotta love summer vacation. I really don’t mind…too much.  They know not to knock on our door after 8 pm.

Enough of my critching.  On to something much more fun! More cards.

Here is another card set I made. It is 6 cards, envelopes and card keeper. I love the fun and festive colors.

Did anyone get a description of the…

….person who took a baseball bat to my head? Oy! Let me tell you something, for those of you who don’t know….Migraines SUCK! and they are very painful too! I woke up early Monday morning feeling like I was beat about the head with a baseball bat. When my alarm clock rudely interrupted me a couple hours later, the pounding in my head hadn’t gotten any calmer. So I emailed the bossman and my office mate and went back to bed.

Daisy woke me up around 8:30 am, I prefer to think it was to check on me, but it had nothing to do with me, it had everything to do with her bladder. You know, I really wish they could be toilet trained. I got up and figured the reason why I couldn’t see a darn thing was because I didn’t have my glasses on. So wrong. I grappled for my glasses and when I put them on, my vision was not much better. Well crapola. I have never had a migraine affect my vision like that. It was very weird. I let the wiggling Daisy and Scrappy outside and went back to bed. By noon, my vision was much better. Whew! My biggest fear is the dark (yes, I have that lovely childhood fear), so going blind is an even bigger fear, living in darkness totally scares the absolute bajeezers out of me!. So I felt much better when I could finally focus my eyeballs to see.

I was out like a light most of the day and all night. I woke up this morning feeling a little better. The pounding had stopped and my vision was completely restored. But man I felt like I had been beat up.

So wouldn’t you agree….Migraines SUCK!

This past weekend I made a bunch of cards. Actually, I made two card sets with 6 cards each and another card set with 10 cards. Here is the one with 10 cards.  There are two cards each of 5 different designs.

It’s not been a happy place around here this week…

What a freaking week this has been. I promise I had a good reason to totally neglect my blog this past week.  It’s been hell week around here.

Okay, where did I leave off….Saturday, May 29th right? Let me catch you up.

We got the project room completed and we are settled in. It is taking some getting use to, but I am totally loving it. Chris has officially taken over Mini Me and I have got my laptop back. It is set up on my project table and I have been enjoying watching Gangland via itunes while working.

On Sunday, we noticed that Scrappy was not acting like himself, he was getting around really slow and kinda whining when he was coming up the stairs from the backyard. He didn’t want to be bothered with anything or anyone, which is weird, since he is always in my lap. Daisy was completely miserable dealing with her summer rash and Nibby’s beautiful white coat had turned blood red around her neck. Apparently, she doesn’t know when to stop scratching. Yep, flea season. Funny thing, we couldn’t find any fleas, but we know they are there since obviously Daisy, Possum and Nibby are all allergic. Being that it was Memorial Day weekend and Sunday to boot, no vets were open, so off to WalMart we went to get flea medicine. Hertz might not be the best, but it would give them some relief.

We medicated the dogs and cats and let me tell you, none of them were happy campers.

Monday morning went from Memorial Day to Labor Day since Chris and I spent the day deep cleaning the house. Daisy was still absolutely miserable so I finally shoved a Benadryl down her throat. Yes, I Googled it before doing it to make sure it was safe. The Benadryl really helped and Daisy is a hoot when she is doped up.

Tuesday was back to work and when we got home Daisy and Scrappy got baths. Scrappy is still not acting like himself and we noticed that he wouldn’t jump up on us. Which is really unusual since he typically tries to knock us down in excitement when we get home. Chris tried to stand him up and Scrappy let out a squeal like someone was killing him. I started checking him and when I touched his right hip he would whine. Light bulb goes off…..I am a terrible fur-mommy. On Saturday night after we had finished with the project room, I was sitting on the couch. I got up to get something to drink and didn’t see Scrappy laying on the floor. The lights were off, he’s black, so yeah, I missed my 80 pound dog laying there. Well, I stepped on his …. yep, right hip. He was walking okay, but just really sore, so I guess I bruised him. I feel horrible.

So needless to say, Daisy was itching like a mad dog, Nibby was itching like a mad cat, and Scrappy was whining like … well, like a hurt dog. It’s was so not a good week around here.

Fast forward to today, well Daisy is still itching, but doing much better. Scrappy is back to normal and trying to knock us down when we come through the door and Nibby’s sores on her neck are finally healing. Possum is still as cranky as ever, Peanut Butter is still acting like a fainting goat and Widdles is just Widdles.

If you made it this far…well, you must be really bored to read all of this. LOL!!

So the Zoo is to blame for me neglecting my blog.

Chris took this picture on Tuesday after we finished bathing the dogs. I had to pick Scrappy up and put him on the couch with me. And of coarse, Widdles had to get in my lap too.
